Save my dogs please

The Issue

After breeding a litter of puppys and unforeseen circumstances I decided I would like to breed my dogs and make it a hobby. I saw all the Puppy farms who produced poorly bred dogs and the need for a good breeder, who does all the possible health checks etc. it’s something I enjoy and believe I’m good at, it also provides my dogs with the best life possible for as long as they live. This is the reason I have so many dogs as I do not pass them on. They are spayed and live their best life with us. They are more than just pets, they are everything to me. They love unconditionally, while helping me with my anxiety, how can I look into those eyes and choose who must go?

I  became a five star licensed breeder in North East Lincolnshire.

I moved home and that put me under North Lincolnshire Council. I applied for a breeding license and got five stars, licensing was very happy and so was the local vet.

About a month after getting my license I got planning enforcement officers at the door telling me they would close me down within 28 days if I didn’t apply for planning.

no one knew I bred dogs until planning informed everyone and gave them the chance to object.

I applied for planning and was refused because our neighbours don’t want it in the villiage . The local parish council objected. I have my dogs in my house the puppys would be in the house so therefore doesn’t effect anyone but us. I appealed and was refused again. I’ve never needed planning previously when I lived in North East Lincolnshire and a lot of the councils do not require you to have planning.

I then got a letter telling me I was still breeding and contravening the decision I explained the puppies I had were conceived before I got the decision.

I was told that was fine however I have to reduce the amount of dogs I have from 10 to 6.

I asked why and was told that six is rule of thumb,  but they are my pets. I can’t choose between them. I’ve been told I must go down to 6 or I will get an enforcement notice. I will go to court get a large fine and possibly be prosecuted.

okay I accept the fact I can’t breed and I won’t run a business from my house however these dogs are our world we love each and every one of them and why should I have to give them up because the local authority say I have to. Where  is the legislation that says you can’t keep more than six dogs especially if they’re just pets.

It is important I don’t loose my dogs I couldn’t live with the idea that my dogs thought I had given them away or worse.
