Mr. Fan, a dedicated 75-year-old retiree, has spent the last decade transforming the garden at Mill Pond Manor in Saline, Michigan, into a beautiful sanctuary for all its residents. This was no easy feat, as the area was once infested with poison ivy and neglected. However, through his hard work, perseverance, and love for gardening, Mr. Fan has created a serene space that has become a cherished part of the community's daily life.

For many of the elderly residents at Mill Pond Manor, some of whom exceed the age of one hundred, the garden provides a rare and much-needed escape. It enhances their quality of life remarkably by offering them a beautiful, calming environment to enjoy. The flowers that Mr. Fan has carefully planted and nurtured bring joy and solace—residents place these flowers in their rooms, wear them, and find peace in the natural beauty they embody.

However, a recent change in management threatens to erase all that Mr. Fan, and the residents, hold dear. There are plans to bulldoze this beloved garden come April, sacrificing this vital green space that has been a cornerstone of the Mill Pond Manor community for so many years. The consequences of such an action would not only destroy this labor of love but also strip the residents of their haven, impacting their well-being and happiness.

To avoid this fate, we must act swiftly to preserve the garden. We urge the management of Mill Pond Manor to reconsider their plans and recognize the importance of this garden in promoting a safe and healthy living space. They must compel the property manager to not take any action against the garden.
