We concerned parents and residents are asking that the New York State Department of Education and the New York State Attorney General's office initiate an investigation into the Mount Vernon City School District (MVCSD). We have now been told that THREE SCHOOL BUILDINGS MUST CLOSE BY JUNE 2025!!

• For the past decade the Mount Vernon City School District has been found in "Severe Financial Distress" by the NYS Comptroller's office and it continues to this day. The Central Office staff responsible for the district's finances and the Board Members who have sat in elected seats for a decade have sat by and turned a blind eye to the depletion and mishandling of the district's finances.
• VOTER SUPPRESSION AND MONOPOLIZING OF BOARD TRUSTEE LEADERSHIP for the past decade!
• Evidence of missing DASA documentation district wide from 2016 to 2023. Missing evidence that led to a student being murdered in 2021. 
• Board Trustees pushing a ZERO percent tax levy increase over the past decade has financially crippled the district which has resulted in less resources for our students and teachers, but big raises for the Acting Superintendent's Cabinet Members.
• Since March 2023 the residents of Mount Vernon have been paying for TWO School Superintendent's salaries and benefits because the Board of Trustees voted in February of 2023 to re-assign the active Superintendent home for a Fact Finding Inquiry led by the Northern District of New York's District Court. This is a result of grant monies that the re-assigned Superintendent signed off on as well as current sitting Board Trustee Members approved. Over a half a million dollars has been spent for two Superintendent's salaries.
• SEVERE Lack of Mandated Special Education Services!!! The special education students of Mount Vernon are severely behind in mandated services like speech therapy, occupational therapy, counseling and vision therapy to name a few. Parents and Teachers have spoken up about the lack of services rendered and also the LACK OF IEP IMPLEMENTATION yet NOTHING has changed. Lack of IEP implementation within the district has caused an immense delay in improvement and advancement for some of our most delicate students.
• Termination and intimidation of district employees at the request of Board Trustees.
• Constant misleading statements to the public about how taxpayer money is being spent.
• At the October 15, 2024 school board meeting a Trustee who serves on the budget committee proclaimed "We have been lied to about the budget and it is a mess." The same budget that current school board trustees had their campaigns run on the trust of the budget and they will make sure taxes don't go up. Meanwhile the district has been failing all along. 

NOW is the time to ACT and SAVE MOUNT VERNON SCHOOLS from further corruption and mismanagement!!! SAVE OUR CHILDREN! SAVE OUR TEACHERS! THINGS MUST CHANGE!
