Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council threatens to build 350 houses on our precious green land at the edge of Mortimer Village.

The addition of so many new houses could increase our population by 25%, without the investment, so desperately needed, to support such growth.

Imagine the strain on local resources. Our doctor’s surgery is already stretched. Our local schools will be under pressure to provide places, affecting education quality for our children. Our roads are already full of potholes!

We value the intimacy and community spirit of Mortimer Village, which will be lost if such an extensive development proceeds. Mortimer has already met its housing quota for West Berkshire and Basingstoke and Deane’s development could split the community between the two councils.

This isn't just a fight against unwanted housing; it’s about preserving the essence of Mortimer Village and its green spaces for future generations.

Together, we can call on Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to remove the site under Policy SPS5.15: Land at West End Farm, Mortimer from their Local Plan Draft Spatial Strategy Regulation 18 Consultation (November 2025)
