For many of us at UNCW, Mooyah is far more than just a place to grab a delicious burger. It's a beloved campus staple where friendships blossom, laughter resonates, and late-night memories are cherished. As a dedicated member of the Mooyah family, I've had the unique pleasure of witnessing countless connections and life-changing moments unfold between students, faculty, staff, and visitors alike. It's this vibrant community atmosphere that makes Mooyah integral to our campus life.

Unfortunately, plans are underway to replace our cherished Mooyah with a new cafeteria by March 2027. This impending closure is not just the loss of another dining option, but of a significant cultural and social hub that has greatly enriched the UNCW experience for years.

Mooyah has always stood as more than a restaurant; it's been a gathering place for the Seahawks community. It's where students congregate after late-night study sessions or celebrate the conclusion of a tough exam. Alumni often return with fond memories, eager to relive a slice of their college days and reconnect with those still walking the beautiful paths of UNCW.

We believe that decisions impacting the UNCW community should not be made without involving the voices most affected by them. The potential closure of Mooyah disregards the lasting impression it has left on so many lives and obliterates a significant aspect of our campus culture.
