UPDATE
19.08.25 the staff at Milsons Point Post Office were advised that the operation/shop will be closing on 12th November 2025, as the increased rent by TfNSW (the landlord) was not sustainable.
Our team are speaking with Government officials and discussing our next steps. WE MUST TAKE REAL ACTION!

The Milsons Point post office (18 Ennis Road) is vital for our community, providing essential postal and financial services that support daily operations and personal needs.
The landlord of the building that houses the Milsons Point post office (TfNSW) has put the site up for lease and is currently taking lease EOIs for the property. If the owner decides to choose another tenant then Australia Post could be forced to close the branch.
A spokesperson from Australia Post told the Sun “Australia Post has submitted an Expression of Interest for the tenancy at 18-20 Ennis Road, and will continue discussions with the landlord around future arrangements”
We urge Australia Post to sign a new lease to ensure continued support for our thriving business community and residents.
- The Milsons Point Post Office is an indispensable part of our community. It is more than just a place to send and receive mail. For many, especially our older residents, it serves as a lifeline for essential services such as banking and paying bills.
- Post offices are crucial for local businesses and economies. They provide vital services that many vulnerable members in our community would struggle to access elsewhere. Any potential closure of this post office would not only inconvenience everyone but also jeopardise the ability to carry out basic tasks for many.
- There are 308 residents living on Ennis Road at Greenway, the social housing comprising of four tall buildings. It is estimated at 85%+ use the Post Office for their important banking and postal needs. This alone is 262 people.
- Many retail bank branches around Australia have closed in recent years. While these are commercial decisions made by private enterprises, retail bank branch closures have impacted the very same vulnerable people (and local businesses) that are at risk if more post offices close. Australia Post is wholly owned by the Australian Government so should consider community impact in their commercial decisions more highly than private enterprises.
We urge those in power to continue to recognise the value this institution brings to Milson’s Point / Kirribilli and its surrounding areas. We call upon Australia Post and relevant authorities to ensure its survival indefinitely by committing resources toward maintaining its operations and make a clear and firm commitment to keep it open permanently.
