Save Milford Cemetery's History!

Save Milford Cemetery's History!
The Issue
For years we have personally seen the decline in care taken in the stones in The Milford Cemetery as well as increased vandalism and litter. Many letters to the association itself, newspapers etc have been sent for YEARS with little to nothing being done to replace these irreplaceable stones. Even after my father offered to pay for one very detailed sandstone stone that had fallen over still sits there 5 years later. WHY? Every year that goes by only makes this issue harder to remedy. The association has been given funds to assist in this cause to fix/replace these stones etc. But have done nothing thus far to remedy this situation. So where is this money going to? Citizens of Milford, CT, this is OUR history, our founders are buried here, how can we let their memory and resting place be forgotten? If the job was being done all along to preserve and care for those gone before us, there would not be a situation of this magnitude to fix now. Please raise your voice in getting this issue taken care of finally!
We have visited the other cemetery in Milford that is also cared for by the same association (Kings Highway)and there is no where near the amount of damage etc there. We even visited Bridgeport, CT's Mountain Grove cemetery which is MUCH larger and is PRISTINE with only ONE broken stone in the whole cemetery that we saw when we walked the entire area. If they can care for their cemetery why can't this town care for one of its oldest and most history filled?
We, the undersigned, are looking for change.Together we shall have it. It has been long overdue to remedy this situation. Is this how we would want to be remembered? Is this how Ray Scholl would want to be remembered as caretaker to Milford's History?
