The Maribyrnong City Council's community feedback process regarding the future of McIvor Reserve, is closing this Sunday 18th at midnight.
Take 5 minutes out of your busy day to make a difference. It's your last opportunity to tell the Council that it's not OK to build on public parkland.
Currently the page is being smashed by supporters of the stadium concept, so make sure your opinion is known by filling in the feedback form here:
McIvor Reserve Draft Master Plan Feedback Form
Over time it has become evident that the draft Master Plan for McIvor, as presented, is poorly budgeted, poorly planned and lacks vision to fulfill the broader community's future needs. All the effort has been directed to the stadium concept and everything else is just garnish to meet that objective.
The Yarraville Footscray Bowling Club needs our help!
As you must know by now, the plan to build the stadium on McIvor involves bulldozing the existing well-used bowling club. This not only means the bowling club as we know it will be lost, but it will force the club into a relationship with the new stadium that no-one seems to want, except the Council. All other groups that use the park have been marginalised, except those sports groups that think they will benefit from the use of the stadium. However, given that the stadium fulfills only HALF the needs of basketball alone, how will other sports groups really fare?
Last Monday evening the club held a members meeting, and officially voted to reject the Council's proposal. That means the Council either ignores the wishes of those community members, or it finds a new site (preferably a brown field site). The club will need all the community support it can get, so spare them a thought in your feedback responses.
All the best for the holidays, no matter how you spend them. Have a great break and thanks for your ongoing support.
