CUTOFF FOR SIGNING -  Sunday 12th February at Midnight! Yes that’s tomorrow night!

We are now preparing the SAVE MCIVOR RESERVE petition for presentation to the Maribyrnong City Council in an attempt to raise their awareness of the wishes of this community, which are overwhelmingly against losing more parkland to buildings that can be located on industrial unused land.

I have noticed that several supporters have sent me multiple OPT-IN emails to verify their support BUT they have not actually signed the petition individually! This seems to be due to only one member of the family signing on behalf of several family members.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you have members of your family that wish to be recognised, they must sign the petition themselves individually. They are all members of this community. Every name counts! If every spouse or significant other signed we would literally double the numbers on this petition and double its impact.

If you are a local and will be directly impacted by potential developments by a parking lot in Benbow Street or hundreds of cars a week passing through Hawkhurst St, or a busy stadium entrance off Francis or Fogarty Ave, now is your chance to be heard. The power of a petition is strength through numbers. Have a chat to your neighbours. Make sure they have their say too.

As the months of this campaign have rolled on, and as community awareness (amazingly) still grows, we have noticed that more and more people want to know what’s happening in their backyard and are surprised that they did not know. Today alone, 78 locals at the Coles Yarraville Square signed the paper version of this petition. If it’s just dawned on you that this development could seriously affect you, please reach out to friendsofmcivorreserve@gmail.com and I will do my best to help you get the answers you need and engage with Council.

Please stay tuned for new updates which will detail Council meetings you may wish to attend in person to show you support.
