Save Marina Del Rey, Lake Texoma

The Issue

We the property owners of the Caney-Soldier Creek community, and the tenants of Marina Del Rey, are requesting action by the United States Army Corps of Engineers against the lease holder and owner-operator of Marina Del Rey, located on Soldier Creek, Lake Texoma. We the property owners are suffering deterioration of our property values, due to dilapidated conditions & mismanagement of Marina Del Rey. The safety & welfare of the area is also suffering because of the continued operation of the night club, Barbay, which has drawn customers who don't respect the surrounding property owners right to peaceable enjoyment of their homes, and have also been responsible for an increase in property & personal crimes in the area as evidenced by the local sheriff’s office records. We the tenants have long endured poor maintenance, and many times lack of utility services required to maintain our boats, all the while being required to pay rent for our slips. The marina owner-operator has allowed electric and water services to be suspended in the past month.  We are seeking the help of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer's to bring accountability to the marina owner-operator, and request that demand be made to immediately bring all docks up to the standards that are required for by the USACOE for private dock permit holders. We ask that action be taken swiftly, and if the owner-operator does not take immediate action, we request that you strongly consider the revocation of the marina owner's lease and permit to operate. Now is the time for the Corps of Engineer's to stand up for the property owners of our community and the tenants of Marina Del Rey, before we suffer further loss. Our community deserves better!
