Save Lives: Restripe Highway 3127 & 3213

The Issue

Highway 3127 and Highway 3213 in Saint James and Saint John Parish, Louisiana, are not adequately striped to enable motorists to navigate those highways safely.

This morning, on my way to The New MSY, I had to travel these stretches of highway while it was raining heavily, and at times, because I was unable to see the lanes of travel and remain in them, I had to come to an almost complete stop on the highway whenever a vehicle approached from the opposite direction.

Considering the number of vehicles that travel these stretches of highway on a daily basis — along with the number of fatal crashes that occur on these stretches of highway — the lack of adequate striping causes a very serious — and potentially deadly — situation.

These stretches of highway also serve as part of the North/South evacuation route for Southeast Louisiana, and in times of disaster, it is imperative that people be able to navigate these stretches of highway safely and efficiently.
