Save Leo's Landing Marina

The Issue

In the spring of 2023 the Prescott City Council sent our a letter to Leo's Landing Marina  informing them they have voted to not renew their lease.  This business has been running continuously in the same location since the 1950's and is currently owned and run by the same family since 1984.

As a business owner myself I hate the thought a city council can run a business out of town without warning.  As an avid boater I would like to see more marina's not less.  If the city wins this battle it will mean the end of Leo's Landing Marina or any marina in that location ever again.   With strict regulations for conservation along waterfronts it would be near impossible to ever build a marine back in that location or anywhere else on this riverway.

The city council has not giving or shown plans as to what they plan to do with the property nor do they intend to from what I get from the meeting.  We can't let city's kick out a business nor can we boaters allow cities to just run a marina out of town.

Please sign this petition to inform the Prescott City Council that you do not want to see this happen.

Here is some history on Leo's Landing, that was shared with me by the Anderson Family.

Leo’s Landing has been around since the 1950’s originally owned by Captain Dick Schickling and is currently owned by Jan Anderson after her husband Dick Anderson passed away in 2017. Dick purchased the marina in 1984 from Leo Simones and it has been a family owned business since and a huge staple to the Prescott community as the longest and oldest marina in Prescott. The marina has seen many upgrades and was destroyed in 2001 from a mishap with lock 2 sending a tsunami wave down  the river tearing apart the docks and marina. The marina you see now is the new marina that was rebuilt in 2001 and since has had many upgrades including a full insulated air conditioned building, new gas tank that was completed Spring 2023 bringing diesel fuel to the area, and added space for jet ski docks. In 2008, Leo’s Landing expanded and purchased the old Jacques Seeds buildings up on Hope and St. Croix streets adding 30,000 square feet of indoor storage for all their storage/winterization customers. With this additional building space included a heated shop for Colton to complete service work through out the winter months and able to employ a full time marine tech.
