Newcastle City Council has received a second freedom of information request to reveal details of correspondence between council officers and Newcastle United Football Club, in relation to expansion plans for St James Park.
The request, submitted by an independent councillor, revealed more than 30,000 emails have been exchanged between the two parties, however, the Council is refusing to share details of this correspondence.
Why can’t this information be made public? What is Newcastle City Council trying to hide?
We submitted a freedom of information request in February and were told there had been no correspondence on the matter.
This would suggest that either the council has sent thousands of emails since February, or it has not been following due process when responding to FOIs.
