Leazes Park has won back its Green Flag status!

This is down to the hard work of Newcastle City Council staff, residents, groups and volunteers 'who pour their hearts into these areas, ensuring they look their best'.

Wouldn't it be a shame for all that hard work to go down the drain, if Leazes Park was to be paved over?

In the meantime, we are still awaiting a response from the Secretary of State (first contacted on 1st April) and have written to the North East Mayor, who has already been in conversation with the Secretary of State about the plans, asking what action she will be taking to protect Newcastle's oldest public park. 

We also copied in the Newcastle Central MP, the Freemen of Newcastle and the Friends of Leazes Park.

We have asked Newcastle City Council for a transcript of the response to our petition, delivered on 11th June, but none has been forthcoming.
