Works to build in the Kempegowda Playground was inaugurated by our MLA on 6 Nov, 2022.

The playground was in fact inaugurated as "Kempegowda Playground" on 21 Dec, 2006 by the then BJP CM himself, dedicating it to the local citizens. This is the only play ground for 1000s of children who enjoy this open space every day.

Please help us, concerned citizens, by stopping this plan to build on the grounds. Citizens discussed this with Sri Munirathna (our MLA) when he came to inaugurate. Citizens also submitted a petition with signatures to MLA's office and the local BBMP authorities.  

Details of the issue for your review and consideration please:

Kempegowda playground Rajarajeshwarinagar, bangalore-560098 is located in WARD 160. Measuring 1.6acre, Sy.no 223 and 224 Halagevaderahalli, Bangalore south Taluk.

This is the only dedicated playground which is in use & was approved by the BANGALORE DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY since 1992 in the vicinity for public, keeping more the growth of the population the government should allocate more playgrounds. This dedicated playground is allocated out of 155 acres with in the 2.5Km Radius. 

Now a school is being built in this Kempegowda Playground. Work order is issued and MLA inaugurated the works on Sunday 6, Nov, 2022. 

There was one more playground in the locality which was converted to BMTC BUS depot leaving only one dedicated playground.

There are two Government and one Private aided Higher Primary Schools and in the same municipal zone, which are ignored by Government for the advance educational facility and health and safety for the children. 

Halagevadarahalli HPS Total distance: 512.83 m (1,682.53 ft),-Till 8th Standard

BangarappaNagar Nammura HPS Total distance: 2.01 km (1.25 mi),- Till 8th Standard,  

Rajarajeshwari Vidyashala HPS Total distance: 1.70 km (1.06 mi) – Till 10th Standard

There are other Civic Amenities sites which are allocated by BANGALORE DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY in the area which can be used  for building this school, instead of converting the only available dedicated playground.

There assumes more importance after Covid, and considering the “Fit India” campaign. 

More than 1000 Children use this dedicated playground almost every day throughout the 365 days even in rainy season which has served to many since 30years, elder people have morning and evening walk and exercise activity in this dedicated playground. 

Yearly we have seen very good tournaments which encourage children to become sports persons. 

This dedicated play ground was inaugurated named as KEMPE GOWDA Play ground by our Ex Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa in the 2006.  

We citizens humbly request that our only one dedicated playground be allowed to remain as is for our youth and children, even elders to use as playground. 

The Government schools and aided in the vicinity should be upgraded.
