Save Insty Prints!
The Issue
My grandfather, Horace Metz was born an entrepreneur. He was a retired WWII veteran and worked as a blue collar citizen in his early years in life, including a steady career at Pillsbury. He then went on to open up multiple gas stations in both Buffalo and North Buffalo. My grandfather found his passion in printing, and opened up Insty Prints in 1969. He first opened in the Ellicot Square building downtown and moved as he grew his business to other locations in Buffalo. He then expanded and decided to purchase a property in both Kenmore, NY and Buffalo, NY, to merge the gap of locations. Both my father and my uncles took over ownership after my grandfather retired and have undoubtedly served him proud since that day (and far before that day). My grandparents couldn’t have raised any better human beings, and because of that I am proud to say they are my family…forever. ❤️
The Village of Kenmore is now trying to overtake my family’s property because of “eminent domain”. Which if you aren’t familiar, it means that the government can overtake your property to their advantage to see fit for their use for a “fair market value”. Contrary to what is being reported through news outlets, they have offered my family pennies on the dollar. Their offer was comparable to a 1700 square foot house. Meanwhile, this is a warehouse sized commercial building with a parking lot as well as a side driveway with garage entry. Not to mention the amount of money it will cost to move LITERAL TONS of industrial printing equipment to another location. With this current offer, they could never purchase another building at this current size, while paying for disassemble as well as reassemble of their printing equipment without coming up negative with the current offer given. Not to mention, uprooting our current staff to somewhere that may not be conducive to their life, which could possibly impact my family’s business even harder.
I am asking you to sign this petition for not only my family’s business but also the people we employ and their families. Support small businesses, whether you’re an owner or not. Sign this petition to help make noise, awareness and let us remain in our building we own. At the very least sign, this petition to help us retain the compensation needed to uproot our entire business as a whole. Small businesses are what thrive in a community, specifically a small village such as Kenmore. Small businesses in this community make it WHOLE, with HEART. We are the people that are there for YOU, both as a customer AND a person. WE are the ones that are always there for you because you help US just as much as we help YOU. Please sign and share this petition to save Insty Prints, our specific Kenmore location which has been a thriving business for 36 years.
This has always been and will always be my family’s livelihood. Help us make a change, a movement and a recourse. ❤️
