We, the Community of Indus School, oppose the ISD #363 School Board majority vote on Agenda Item #17 on Wednesday, March 8th, 2023, to close the Indus School.

The School Board considered an 8-page "report" compiled of vague calculations or unverified data. No consideration was made regarding:

• Long-range planning information
• Educational and curriculum data
• Geographics and demographic studies
• Building evaluations
• Substantial public input
• Affidavits and opinions of administrative and professional staff charged with delivering optimal education to residents of the school district and the student body at-large

The report lacks substantial evidence to support a school closure.

We believe the decision was made in haste and without consideration of any public opinion.

We hereby petition for the board to extend the public hearing (scheduled for April 3rd, 2023 at 5pm) and vote on this issue until appropriate due diligence, research, and disclosure can be done by the board.
