Save Indooroopilly and Taringa - STOP Developers- SWANN BURNS RENNIE
The Issue
As concerned residents of Indooroopilly and Taringa, we are fundamentally opposed to the Brisbane City Council’s recent approval of the multiple dwelling developments at 7 & 9 Burns Street, Indooroopilly, 62 Rennie Street, Indooroopilly, and 97 Swann Road, Taringa. This decision not only undermines the integrity of our neighbourhoods but also compromises the safety and well-being of the taxpayers and voters residing here.
Firstly, the decision to approve this project is distressingly unlawful as it violates established building codes meant to protect our communities from haphazard development. By allowing such projects, the Council is setting a dangerous precedent that could lead to the deterioration of our residential environment.
Moreover, this development poses an increased risk to the safety of our children. The increase in traffic resulting from such a large-scale project will make our streets even more hazardous for young pedestrians and cyclists. It's crucial to consider that these changes will directly impact the quality of life and safety in our neighbourhoods.
BCC has not considered the destruction of fauna and flora, the habitat of countless birds, reptiles and mammals that live in these 5 lots, the trees that will be cut down and the light, noise and air pollution that this oversized dwelling will expose us to.
Finally, BCC's decision diminishes the aesthetic harmony of Indooroopilly and Taringa, both of which residents have worked hard to preserve over the years. The sheer scale of this project is also misaligned with the community's architectural character and greatly threatens to overshadow its charm.
We demand that all building work be immediately ceased until a thorough review of this project is conducted. The Brisbane City Council must acknowledge our concerns and arrange for a comprehensive town hall meeting where these issues can be openly discussed. It is imperative that the Council listens to us, their constituents, and reconsiders the extent and scale of this new development.
By signing this petition, you are supporting a movement to safeguard the residential quality and character of Indooroopilly and Taringa. We urge you to join us in this critical fight to uphold the standards and safety of our beloved community.
