Save Indian Football: End Politics, Build Grassroots – Let Football Rise Together

Save Indian Football: End Politics, Build Grassroots – Let Football Rise Together
The Issue
India is a country of 1.4 billion dreams - but when it comes to football, those dreams are crushed not by lack of talent, but by a broken system.
Despite a rich legacy and passionate fanbase, India has dropped to 127 in the FIFA World Rankings. This isn’t just a number. It’s a wake-up call.
We are not here to point fingers at individuals - we’re here to demand structural change. Indian football needs reform, not rhetoric.
⚠️ The Problems We Face:
1. AIFF’s “Vision 2047” sounds good on paper, but real grassroots development is nowhere to be seen.
2. Rural and underprivileged talent is ignored in favor of elite urban circles.
3. Selection remains opaque, driven more by favoritism than merit.
4. Football has become a playground for politics, not players.
5. Hundreds of football academies, coaches, and grassroots workers go unrecognized and unsupported.
✅ What We’re Demanding:
1. Transparent, Professional Leadership at AIFF
– Led by football professionals and experts, not driven by favoritism or politics.
2. A National Grassroots Development Mission (with real fieldwork)
– Active scouting in rural and underserved regions, not just urban elites.
– Regular school-level tournaments and community-based development.
3. Fair, Merit-Based Selections Across All Levels
– Selections based purely on skill and performance.
– Former players and top experts must be included in the main decision-making panel.
– Politicians and businessmen may contribute as supporters, but must not have signing authority.
– A Supervisory Committee, independent of AIFF, should be established to oversee operations and ensure fairness.
4. Support and Funding for Local Leagues and Rural Academies
– Direct investment in grassroots infrastructure, coaching, and scouting programs.
5. Independent Audits & Public Accountability
– Third-party audits, public reports, and transparent governance across Indian football operations.
⚽ Who We Are:
This petition is led by Jatin Tyagi, a former footballer, expert, and activist who has worked with over 17 state football associations, organizing youth leagues, rural tournaments, and inclusive scouting programs across India.
This campaign is powered by the JATIN TYAGI FOUNDATION —committed to empowering youth through sports and ending discrimination in talent development.
🗣️ A Word from Jatin Tyagi:
"India doesn't lack talent - we lack the courage to nurture it. Every village, every street has a footballer waiting to be discovered. It's time we built a system that finds them, supports them, and lets them shine."
— Jatin Tyagi, [ Former Footballer, Fit India Movement Ambassador, Founder – JATIN TYAGI FOUNDATION ]
🌟 Our Vision:
To create a fair, inclusive, and transparent football ecosystem in India where every child - regardless of background - gets a real chance to play, grow, and represent the nation.
🛠️ What You Can Do Today (Advice from Jatin Tyagi):
Be the voice for the voiceless talents - especially in rural and underserved areas
Support local football: Join, donate, or collaborate with grassroots academies
Challenge injustice: If you see bias or favoritism, speak up
Tag influencers and leaders: Let them hear your roar
And most importantly: Don’t wait for change - be the change
