WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, APPEAL TO DYCD AND THE MAYOR’S OFFICE TO REVERSE THE DECISION TO REMOVE OUR BELOVED IMANI HOUSE AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM FROM PS282 

We the parents of the Imani House participants hereby submit this petition for the immediate reinstatement of this important program.. We are deeply concerned that a program we depend on and love is being removed without any communication from DYCD or the School Administration as to why this is happening. Imani House was one of the first programs selected by the DYCD RFP for its excellence over 24 years ago. Imani House provides an enriching, loving, capable, multicultural program that integrates diverse and enriching arts, academic support, & Performance Recitals, into community building activities. The staff show care and work hard to provide the students a comfortable, familiar, safe and supportive afterschool haven.  Additionally, Imani House provides consistent structure and motivation towards academic excellence with social emotional development activities including specialized tutoring.  We have a strong Parent Committee that is engaged in helping direct and interact with the program. We work closely with our local politicians and maintain a decent collaborative relationship with the school's Principal, Vice Principals, and Staff.  

WE URGE DYCD TO REINSTATE the Imani House 2027 COMPASS program immediately so that our children and families will continue to enjoy a high quality program at PS282. This is  occurring citywide and we must protest the DYCD decision and keep Imani House at PS282 !!!
