We, the traders of Paddy's Markets, are under threat from proposed redevelopment plans that could destroy small businesses and harm tourism. 

For generations since 1894, Paddy's Markets has been a part of the fabric of our community, bringing people together and supporting small businesses. 

The proposed redevelopment plans could displace dozens of small business owners like myself who have poured their heart and soul into their shops and livelihoods. We are the backbone of our local economy, and without these small businesses, our community will suffer.

We were not consulted or included in the decision made by Sydney Markets Limited (SML). The lack of transparency or stakeholder inclusion in this decision highlights a lack of due diligence or good governance. We have been told that if we do not oppose this, we will be deemed to accept their decision. If we oppose their decision, then our shares/licence will be cancelled. This is grossly unfair.

The impact of this decision on our small businesses cannot be overstated. This move will only benefit the developers and Doltone Hospitality Group. We refuse to let SML dilute our market, and we will not stand by while our heritage and community are erased. 

The plan is still pending approval from Placemaking New South Wales and development consent from the City of Sydney Council. We are calling on the New South Wales Government and the City of Sydney Council to stand by the market traders.
