Save Hyperion Public's Outdoor space

Save Hyperion Public's Outdoor space
The Issue
Hyperion Public: The community pub.
**NOT LOOKING FOR DONATIONS-ANY DONATION GOES DIRECTLY TO CHANGE.ORG NOT TO HYPERION PUBLIC THANK YOU**
Currently at Court defending the rights to long-held outdoor dining spaces.
Since 2012 this bar has been supporting and creating a welcoming space for our community to come meet, have fun, relax, and unite.
From supporting little league and local public school programs to political and social justice workers, local artists, creators, vendors, musicians, filmmakers, production workers and dream weavers, they have always believed strongly in our community and have always worked hard to keep Hyperion Public our local gathering space.
They are by the People, For the People
Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic they kept their doors open and did everything they could to be able to provide for the community and their employees in times of need.
Residents of Silverlake, Los Feliz, the greater East Hollywood, Glendale and LA Area: Now I need YOUR HELP to stand up for their rights.
In 2022, after 10 years happily in business, a new resident transplanted into the block, they welcomed them with open arms and were met with demands to close doors early, change hours and stop providing artists and entrepreneurs a space to entertain and hone their craft. They were concerned about music being heard at 9:00PM. HP did what they could to diffuse the situation but this (now relocated) resident called City Hall day in and day out in the hopes of having HP shut down completely.
They have been labeled as a Nuisance to the Community
Since then, they have been met with LAPD, County clerks office and LA county District Attorney efforts to shut down their permitted outdoor spaces.
Laws change quickly and they have worked to adapt to those as they have come up. First it was the awnings over the building and taking away the parking lot space, then it was the walk-up bar seating and now it is all of the outdoor dining and drinking areas that they plan to take away permanently. They are being told they need permits to dance, sing, even have karaoke and need to create gendered bathrooms. Threatening Hyperion Public with fully shutting them down.
They have had to strip the entire facade of the building to install a bar-less window. HP has actively halted live performances and re-wrote the entire personality of bar multiple times at their requests.
The same organizations that gave businesses a little space to breath during the pandemic are coming back and sucking the life out of them now that the brunt of it is over and it is unethical, immoral and unacceptable!
Like all businesses mistakes have been made but Hyperion Public always shows up and rights any wrongs. But now,
It has turned into harassment.
But we aren't letting them go out that easy.
Outdoor seating areas are so important not only to their business but to those of us that support this business and want to see it succeed. From being able to watch the games out in the fresh air, bringing our dogs out, gathering at large dining areas for birthdays, brunches, dinners, work or recreational parties to being able to sit in the sunshine on a beautiful summer day and unwind from the busy work week and chat with our neighbors passing by on foot.
It's no secret in a big city that being outdoors in any capacity boosts overall wellness.
It's starting with us.
Without pushback now, soon neighboring businesses with outdoor seating in LA will be burdened with this task themselves.
Help us say NO to taking away outdoor drinking and dining in LA.
By signing this petition you are telling the state that this outdoor extension of Hyperion Public not only adds value and stimulates the community socially, ethically and economically but is a cherished space that is supported by its neighbors, the people of Silverlake and surrounding.
They need our help.
