The Issue

Hornbrook Farm is one of those rare places where nature and history coalesce into a serene landscape unparalleled in its beauty and ecological richness. Nestled on the picturesque eastern entrance to Horsham, it’s not just a piece of land; it's a piece of our community’s heart, a sanctuary for wildlife, and a cherished view for residents and visitors alike. Hornbrook Farm is home to protected species and a habitat that has thrived for generations.

Horsham has been a focal point for unwarranted development pressures for quite some time now. As neighboring councils struggle to manage their housing responsibilities, the burden unfairly shifts to us. We find ourselves staring at housing targets that are unrealistic and, frankly, detrimental to our community's fabric. Yet, amidst this overreach, land owners with an eye for profit have begun to exploit our green belt lands.

By turning Hornbrook Farm into high-density housing, we risk not just the land but also the ecological diversity and tranquility that define us. The proposed developments are outside the built-up boundaries, disrupting our community’s layout and heritage. These land grabs ignore the environmental protections and the unique charm that have made Horsham special.

We need actionable and sustainable solutions that balance development with preservation. It's time to engage our local councils and stakeholders to rethink development strategies that don't overburden Horsham or demolish our green landscapes.

We call upon the local council to refuse planning permissions that infringe upon Hornbrook Farm's ecological sanctity and to collaboratively develop housing plans that are in harmony with our natural and historical treasures.

Let us not allow profiteers to dismantle what makes our community resilient and beautiful. Let’s preserve Hornbrook Farm for future generations, where they too can enjoy the distinct scenery and biodiversity that have long been a part of Horsham.

Please sign this petition and help ensure Hornbrook Farm remains a cherished part of Horsham for all to experience.
