Save Honeybee Pool: Warm Water Access for Rohnert Park

For over four decades, HoneybeePool has given seniors, disabled residents, lap swimmers, and other residents warm water access for mobility, therapy, rehabilitation, and exercise, access that exists nowhere else in Rohnert Park. Many swimmers have been advised by their physicians and health care providers that the only exercise recommended is swimming in the pool. 

On July 26, 2026, the City announced its closure. No official has said who made the decision, what process was followed, or why the Senior Citizens Advisory Commission, which didn’t meet between the announcement and the closure, was never consulted.

Residents who wrote directly to city leadership, including Vice Mayor Jackie Elward, received no response. A promised callback to another resident never came.

We’re asking the City Council to:

1. Disclose who made this decision and how

2. Pause the closure until the Senior Citizens Advisory Commission reviews it

3. Commit to a transparent process for future decisions affecting warm water programs
