This facility is not just a hospital—it is a lifeline for Kennedy Township and surrounding areas. Closing it will put lives at risk, as the next nearest hospitals are at least 30 minutes away, a delay that can mean the difference between life and death in an emergency.

Heritage Valley Kennedy provides critical emergency care, inpatient services, and specialized treatments that our community relies on daily. The closure would create a dangerous healthcare gap, leaving residents—especially the elderly, those with chronic conditions, and individuals without reliable transportation—without timely access to medical care. This will result in overcrowding at nearby hospitals, increased wait times, and a severe strain on emergency services.

The decision to close Heritage Valley Kennedy is driven by financial factors, but the cost of human lives should take priority over balance sheets. Consolidating services to Sewickley and Beaver locations is not a viable alternative when every second counts in a medical emergency.

We urge Heritage Valley Health System and community leaders to reconsider this decision and explore alternative solutions, such as securing additional funding, forming partnerships, or operational restructuring to ensure this vital hospital remains open.
