UPDATE! 5/30/2025
Hi friends, neighbors, and fellow book lovers! I started this petition over a year ago and was blown away by the support. I have been a reader my whole life and I was so excited to see how many book lovers we have in this community.

Unfortunately, we weren't able to save our beloved Barnes and Noble. BUT we don't stay down. Instead we start mobilizing. Over the past year - Ciera, Emily, and myself have been organizing and starting our own bookstore to support the book community in Sumner County! Prose and Pine Books (proseandpinebooks.com). We're starting with a pop up/mobile bookstore with plans to expand to a brick and mortar.

We are so excited and have gotten such wonderful support from the community at our events. We work really hard to curate a selection of good (and important!) books, and also work hard to stock books by local authors. We even have a few signed copies in our store! 

We would love if ya'll would continue to support us. We truly believe in the power of literature to change lives and believe that Sumner County deserves to have an independent bookstore that carries everything from romance to fantasy to classic literature. 

If you're interested in supporting us, here are some ways to do it:

Come to our pop up events and buy books! We're regularly at the Gallatin and Hendersonville Farmer's Markets. We'll be at the Gallatin Farmer's Market June 7th and the Hendersonville Farmer's Market June 14th, and we're hoping to add dates at more event venues soon!

We also started a collaboration with the Palace Theater in Gallatin Tennessee to start a movie/book club. Folks can read the books, watch the movie on the big screen, and then stay after for a short (optional) book club. Our next one is June 27th when we'll be showing the Hunger Games. The Palace is one of our favorite places in Gallatin and a historic place we want to support! Coming to events like this is a huge step toward getting our brick and mortar and continuing to offer book clubs that you can join! You can buy your tickets at this link:
