When I think about Helotes, Texas, I think about all the wonderful times spent at our local Sonic. It's more than just a fast-food joint; it's a cornerstone of our community. Sonic has been a place where our friends and families gather for quick bites, where teenagers find their first jobs, and where we all can enjoy some good old fashioned tater tots and refreshing slushies. But now, our beloved Sonic is at risk. Our city council is planning to close it down to make way for a new coffee house.

Why does this matter? Sonic offers something unique to our community. It provides a casual and iconic spot where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together in a relaxed setting. The carhops, the music, the classic drive-in experience—all these things foster a sense of community that is becoming increasingly rare.
