Save Headingley Crown Post Office!

The Issue

SUPPORT THE CAMPAIGN TO SAVE HEADINGLEY CROWN POST OFFICE!

Post Office Limited has announced proposals to close Headingley Post Office and replace it with a small Post Office counter in another shop or supermarket, on a franchise basis.

The proposed closure would deprive Headingley, a large and busy suburb of Leeds, of its essential Crown Post Office. Postal services based in another building would not be as accessible to members of the public as the current Headingley Post Office building and would provide a more limited service to customers and a number of services would cease altogether.

Moreover, if the branch was based in a franchise, the Headingley Post Office would become dependent on another business. This would endanger long term postal service provision in Headingley. The move to a franchise could also lead to current staff losing their jobs.

In 2008, after closing Far Headingley Post Office, Post Office Limited made a commitment to the people of Headingley that they would not close the central Headingley branch. They are now going back on their promise!! We cannot and will not accept this blatant U-Turn!

Pictured are Greg Mulholland MP and Brynmor Jones of Headingley Post Office.

We strongly oppose any proposed closure of Headingley Post Office.

Greg Mulholland, as the MP for Headingley, with the support of staff of Headingley Post Office, customers and local residents have launched a petition.

I/We the undersigned call on Post Office Limited to halt plans to close Headingley Post Office.
