Birmingham City Council is under enormous financial pressure right now, and will have to make some very difficult cuts. It has been reported that libraries across the city are under threat. 

All libraries provide an essential service to the community beyond lending books. They help people of all ages to learn, study, and develop, but particularly children and those without internet access. They can also be a space for community groups, and they are often a shelter for those who need a peaceful space to rest. 

Handsworth Library provides all these services.
