Memorial Park in Gullane is currently in the process of being upgraded. Under the current proposals, the skatepark which is currently there will be flattened. Those leading the redevelopment of Memorial Park argue that the skatepark is underused. 

This news is hugely disappointing for many of the children in Gullane, who use the skatepark regularly for scooting, skating and biking. It is great for them to have this facility on their doorstep in order to pursue their hobby. The skatepark is something that children from all backgrounds can go to and enjoy. 

Within the upgrade to Memorial Park, the children had really been hoping for a larger and more accessible skatepark, but at the risk of it being taken away completely, perhaps a skatepark designer could be consulted to see if there is an inexpensive way of it being made more accessible. This could be funded through the development plan, or indeed fundraised by the children. The bottom line is that children in Gullane who scoot, skateboard, bike and/or play in the skatepark would love it to be more accessible for everyone but, most importantly, do not want it taken away completely.
