I oppose the petition from Holcim (formerly Aggregate Industries) to annex any part of Grey Cloud Island Township to Cottage Grove.

This action by a Swiss-based multi-billion-dollar company could destroy our unique community, the smallest township in Minnesota. Grey Cloud Island is nestled in a national park, the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area. Grey Cloud Island is home to the largest bald eagle population in the state and a high density of Indian burial grounds, along with hundreds of acres of mature trees and wildlife.

This annexation request means little to Cottage Grove residents but means everything to us. It’s all we have. Please allow us to continue to self-govern.

This is an assault on our township and a threat to our existence!
