SAVE Girl Scout Camp Nawakwa in Cornell WI (GSNWGL)

SAVE Girl Scout Camp Nawakwa in Cornell WI (GSNWGL)
The Issue
Girl Scouts of Northwestern Great Lakes released on Monday that they will be divesting 3 properties, one of which is our beloved camp in Cornell, WI. Camp Nawakwa. We are told this decision is NOT being made because our council is under financial strain.
Girls & volunteers are banding together to try to save Camp Nawakwa. We are raising our voices to express the importance of keeping this camp in our area and ask YOU...leader, parent, girl, or community member to please help us be heard by signing this petition to keep CAMP NAWAKWA.
Girl Scouts is supposed to be a girl-led organization, yet our leaders are NOT listening to our girl's voices. We have girls in tears and girls enraged with anger...they deserve the right to be heard!
Without this camp, our girls will have to travel to Irma, WI to have a camp experience with Girl Scouts. At Nawakwa, not only are we closer to home, but we have access to the beautiful natural property, the clean and private Picnic lake, gathering and sleeping facilities, donated equipment/furniture/supplies, archery, water sports, day camps, overnight rentals for troops, the Ice Age Trail, snowshoes, and so much more. There is history and pride that can never be replaced..."once it is gone, there is no going back."
This is also a place of healing for those who remember the tragic loss of Girl Scouts from Troop 3055. A Memory Trail has been built on the property, dedicated to our sister Girl Scouts. With respect to the families who are experiencing all this (just weeks away from the anniversary of the accident), we are not talking about the importance of that connection. But we NEED you to understand that for our Girl Scout community, this is a place we have grieved and honored our sister Girl Souts.
There are Girls Scout Bronze, Silver, and Gold Award projects on the property! All of which will be gone!
Please join us in raising your voices that GSNWGL should NOT divest this property! Please sign our petition today!
