I will start this by saying every Georgetown fan appreciates what Patrick Ewing THE PLAYER has done for Georgetown basketball. We will always appreciate and admire Coach John Thompson. With that being said Georgetown Basketball needs to fire Coach Ewing, Ronny Thompson and all Thompson friends that are driving the program into irrelevancy. We the fans are fed up simply based on the results on and off the court during Coach Ewing's tenure.

For the casual fan here is a back story on how the Georgetown basketball program currently operates. Athletic Director Lee Reed has no control over the basketball program. He seems to be a decent AD based on the other Hoyas teams but appears to be a perfectly fine being the fall guy that is used as cover for the corruption in the basketball program.

The Georgetown basketball program reports directly to the school President John "Jack" DeGioia. DeGioia was friends with John Thompson Jr. dating back to his undergraduate days. He has allowed that friendship to dictate how the basketball program is run since he has been in control. He allows Ronny Thompson to be the "Chief Of Staff" over the basketball program. This allows Ronny to collect a hefty salary. A quick look at Ronny's resume will show noting that would deserve him to be the head of a major college basketball program. Ronny simply has this job, like most in his life, because he is John Thompson's son. He also employs Thompson family friends who also collect a hefty salary. These others include including Bill Howze (Director of Basketball Operations), Irv Horne (Assistant Director of Basketball Operations), Mike Hill (Associate AD for Sports Performance/Director of Sports Performance for MBB). The program is currently run as a de facto tribute to John Thompson Jr. A tribute that spends $14,000,000 per year and has not won a single Big East conference game in two seasons. No other school would allow this to continue. The school's Board Of Directors, Chaired by Thomas A. Reynolds III, seems content to allow DeGioia to funnel money into the Thompson family pockets. All while allowing the once proud basketball program to fade away in irrelevancy.
