Free speech is under attack. Marty Sheargold, a respected and long-standing voice in Australian media, has been unfairly fired for simply expressing his opinion on the Matildas. In a country that prides itself on open discussion and diverse viewpoints, this kind of censorship is unacceptable.  

Whether you agreed with Marty or not, the principle at stake is far bigger than one opinion—it’s about the right to speak freely without fear of losing your livelihood. Silencing someone for expressing a personal view sets a dangerous precedent. Today, it’s Marty. Tomorrow, it could be anyone who dares to speak their mind.  

We call on Triple M/Southern Cross Austereo to reinstate Marty Sheargold immediately and reaffirm its commitment to free speech and open discourse. Healthy debate is the foundation of a strong democracy, and punishing individuals for their opinions is a step in the wrong direction.
