The Issue

FREDDY HILL FARMS IS AT RISK OF BEING DEVELOPED!

Freddy Hill Farms is a beloved local landmark with a legacy of providing outdoor recreation and family fun in a unique environment that is not replicated anywhere else nearby. In many ways it’s the heart of our community. A common place where people can come together.

Anyone who has grown up in the area could share stories of the times they’ve gone out for mini golf with family/friends, hit up the driving range, took to the batting cages for baseball practice, or ended the day with some of the best ice cream around!

Freddy Hill Farms is also home to some of the last remaining open space in Towamencin Township. A space that is crucial to supporting our local environment and safeguarding the health of our community. There is a creek (often susceptible to flooding) that runs through the property which connects to the Towamencin Creek and flows through Fishers Park. These waterways are a part of the Perkiomen Watershed.

Development of this land would be a huge loss to the community, and the many people who travel to come make memories and enjoy what Freddy Hill Farms has to offer. It would also be a crushing loss to our local environment that sees less and less open space with each new development.

If Freddy Hill Farms is developed…

- The entire community would lose access to unique outdoor recreational opportunities that have for generations created memories for friends and families.

- Nearby residents (especially those downstream) would face increased risks of flooding due to additional storm water runoff created by paving over the landscape.

- Our local environment would be degraded seeing increased air and water pollution and an irreparable diminishment of our limited open space that supports vital bird, amphibian, and pollinator populations.

- Residents would also face increased traffic congestion which would ultimately worsen air quality and lengthen commute times.

Help voice your concern for the future of Freddy Hill Farms by SIGNING THIS PETITION to let local leaders know that you DO NOT want to see this space developed, and our community’s landmark be lost.

A community is nothing without its landmark.

Our concern stems from the announcement of the farm’s closure by the end of this season, and the increasing possibility of a sale to a developer - similar to that of the neighboring Walton Farm which sold earlier this year and is already set for development. Most worrying is that the Township’s comprehensive plan outlines the area as a prospective site for development.

Update as of 5/26/25: Pinnacle Realty will likely be taking over ownership and is proposing the first development plans on Wednesday 5/28 at the Township Board of Supervisors Meeting. 7pm. This was expected, but we must continue to voice our opposition to the idea of development in this beloved space. Attend the meeting to voice concern!
