We launched this petition to save Fairfield United Church a few days ago and we already have 300 signatures. This shows how much people care about preserving our history and protecting our community from inappropriate development. We can make a difference and stop the demolition. If you want to make your voice heard even more. Here are two more things you can do. 1) Write to city planner Alec Johnston by Tuesday Mar 13 The city has asked for feedback on this development and the proposal to amend the Official Community Plan (OCP) Bylaw to change the urban place designation from Small Urban Village to Large Urban Village. Write to Alex Johnston at ajohnston@uvic.ca and CC our officials at councillors@victoria.ca to say that this is not okay. Your email doesn't need to be long or poetic; the most important thing is that lots of people write. 2) Attend the CALUC meeting on the Church on Thurs Mar 15 at Cook Street Activity Centre (380 Cook St.) at 7:30 pm If you can attend and voice your support for saving the church, please do. If you cannot attend, you still can have your comments heard and should send them to planandzone@fairfieldcommunity.ca before the meeting. As Margaret Mead said "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has”.
