We, the undersigned, urgently call for the release of all elephants currently chained and kept in private places, including temples and places.

Elephants are majestic, intelligent creatures that deserve to live in their natural habitat, not confined by chains or exploited for human amusement. The recent tragic death of an elephant in Tamil Nadu due to an accident highlights the urgent need for change. Elephants subjected to captivity and chains are at significant risk of harm and suffering.

We urge tthe Indian government to:

Enact legislation to prohibit the chaining and use of elephants in temples and for other entertainment purposes.

Ensure the safe and humane relocation of these elephants to sanctuaries or protected natural environments where they can live freely.

Establish and enforce regulations to prevent future incidents and ensure the well-being of elephants in captivity.

Our collective action can help end the suffering of these extraordinary animals and restore their right to live in their natural environment.
