Save El Marino Elementary's Assistant Principal Position

The Issue

Issue: CCUSD recently sent notices to all elementary school assistant principals that their positions may be cut due to budget constraints.

While they await a decision in May from the state regarding funding for 2025-26 school year, we must let the school district know that we do not want to lose our Assistant Principal.

Action: The parents and families of El Marino Elementary School must let Superintendent Dr. Brian Lucas and all School Board Members know that they cannot eliminate all assistant principal positions from its five elementary schools.  This proposed cut is a short-sighted decision that will have a huge negative impact on our students and school faculty.

At El Marino — CCUSD’s largest elementary school currently with over 800 students with a proposed increase to 850 for 2025-26 school year — Assistant Principal Jennifer Servin plays an essential role for the day-to-day functioning of the school.  Her duties include student support, IEP/504 coordination, restorative practices, and bilingual communication with our diverse families.

Cutting this position and losing Assistant Principal Jennifer Servin will have long-term consequences and immediate negative impact on student achievement, staff capacity, and school safety.  Please protect the leadership that helps our schools thrive.
