Students, family, staff and community, help us protect one of Eagan High School's most beautiful and oldest traditions. For 35 years Eagan High School has held their graduation ceremony at EHS. This tradition is at risk with a venue change to Mariucci Arena in downtown Minneapolis on the UMN campus. This decision is being made without input from students, staff or parents and without consideration with how this impacts our school community. This decision not only affects the Class of 2026 but all future classes.

Students want to graduate where they made memories for the past four years, where they developed relationships and friendships, where they became the person they are on the day of graduation. They want to see the blue & green colors of their high school and not maroon & gold. They want the confetti as they throw their caps in the air. They want the tradition of an EHS graduation ceremony starting at the time of their graduating year like all the students who came before them. They want to take pictures after the ceremony with EHS in the background where they spent the last four years.

By moving the ceremony to the UMN, parents will need to navigate travel to & from downtown, need to secure and pay for parking, and graduating students will need to be transported by bus. Students will not be with their friends on the bus and they will need to endure a hot bus ride downtown.  With a move to UMN it is also likely that staff will not attend due to the ceremony not being at EHS. It will also be extremely difficult for the older adult family members to navigate downtown and the logistics of a ceremony at Mariucci Arena with limited accessibility and additional walking.

It is our hope that through this petition and meetings with the superintendent & the school board that we can create positive change and continue holding the graduation ceremony at EHS. Sign this petition to show how important the graduation ceremony being held at Eagan High School is to you!
