Great news everyone!

After hearing some things down the grapevine and then finally having a meeting with Drexel Admin today, we have great news!

The food trucks are BACK! Drexel Police is now referring any parking violations to L&I, but not issuing tickets for them anymore.

To ensure the food trucks remain protected, Councilwoman Gauthier has introduced TWO BILLS!

  1. The first bill amends subsection 9-203 of the Philadelphia Code to permit overnight parking in the area bounded by 32nd Street, Cherry Street, 34th Street, and Market Street.
  2. The second bill allows the city to reclaim the 3100 block of Ludlow Street to ensure food trucks are welcome and protected.

These bills have only been INTRODUCED and are In Council. They still need to be heard and then adopted. I believe the next City Council meeting is April 24th @ 10AM at City Hall, but I am not 100% sure it will be heard then. If you want to offer public comment, here is the information.

I would like to take a moment to thank the people that have worked on this, including Councilwoman Gauthier, Drexel Representatives, USGA, The Triangle, Fox 5, and the Food Truck Owners!

I am not sure when these bills are getting heard, but I will keep you all posted. Even for now, having the food trucks back is a tremendous victory. Thank you all for sharing and making your voices heard!
