The Issue

I attended Downtown College Prep (DCP) and I can confidently say DCP has provided me with ALL the tools necessary to succeed in all aspect of my life. I graduated in June 2020, and while it was a challenging time amidst a global pandemic, DCP ensured that every student received a personalized graduation while continuing to get support and resources even after theyve graduated. After I graduated high school, there was no looking back for me. But the thought of current students at DCP having their high school lives abruptly disrupted without closure is deeply upsetting to my peers and I. History may not necessarily repeat itself, but it certainly does rhyme, and it’s our job to change the song to our rhythm.

DCP's mission has always been to serve underrepresented students in San Jose, CA, providing them with a robust education and a community of support. The recent news that DCPs recent challenges has directed its governing body to to close all campuses is worrying not only for the students and their families but also for the community that relies on it.

One potential solution to ensure the continuity and stability of DCP's legacy is to relocate it to the Center of Employment Training (CET) facility. Renaming it "DCP at CET" would give it a fresh start while preserving the core values and mission that have impacted so many lives. CET’s central location would provide excellent accessibility for students coming from various parts of San Jose, ensuring that DCP continues to be a beacon of hope and success.

The partnership with CET could prove beneficial for both institutions, allowing for resource sharing, expanded program offerings, and a collaborative community environment. This relocation could be the strategic move needed to safeguard the future of many students who count on DCP's distinctive educational framework.

Join us in advocating for the relocation to CET to secure the future of Downtown College Prep and its students. We call on city officials, educational leaders, and the community at large to support this initiative. Your signature can make a significant difference in securing a stable future for DCP and continuing the tradition of excellence and support for students in San Jose.

Please sign this petition to help save DCP and ensure it continues to change lives for many generations to come.
