"Save Douglas County CSB: Demand Action Before It’s Too Late!"
The Issue
The Douglas County Community Services Board (CSB) is in danger of being shut down. This vital organization currently serves over 10,000 residents, offering mental health care, disability support, substance recovery, and more—yet our county leadership has not committed to saving it.
Meanwhile, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department is outsourcing behavioral health services for just 800 residents at a cost of $4.6 million—while the CSB is asking for $5 million to serve over ten times as many people.
If the CSB closes, thousands of people with mental illness, special needs, disabilities, and recovery challenges will be displaced, unaccounted for, and risk falling through the cracks of the justice system. The outside contractor cannot absorb this volume, nor are they equipped to specialize in the same services.
We are calling on Douglas County Commissioners to:
Notify the Georgia DBHDD that they intend to reorganize the CSB as a local behavioral health authority
Draft and vote on a resolution to reestablish the CSB as a county public corporation
Allocate or amend the budget to immediately dedicate $1–2 million to finish this quarter
Strategically plan a $5 million commitment to sustain the CSB going forward
The faster this action happens, the more likely the county will retain control. If the state takes over, local options and transparency will be lost forever.
We are not asking for new taxes. We are asking for bold leadership, budget accountability, and a commitment to people over politics.
This is not just a petition—it is a lifeline for families, youth, and the vulnerable in our community.

Douglas County: We have the money. What we need now is the will.
My Personal Story:
I’ve seen firsthand what the Douglas County Community Services Board (CSB) means to our community. At the start of this year, we hosted the Gospel Blast Fest at the CSB building—an unforgettable event that brought joy to families and children who had been neglected during the holidays. The building was filled with laughter, healing, and hope.
Since then, I’ve watched this space become a true hub for change. We’ve partnered with other organizations for back-to-school drives, fitness events, and weekly workouts that bring dozens of residents together. The energy, the support, the encouragement—it’s like nothing else in our county.
I’ve personally attended political forums and debates inside this very building. It has become a place where people’s voices are heard—where the community gathers, learns, and grows. I’ve met some of the most passionate, caring individuals in our county through the CSB. They don’t just work jobs—they serve with heart.
This isn’t just a building. It’s a lifeline. Just when our community is becoming more engaged and aware of what the CSB offers, we are being told it may be shut down. Why close the doors when the wheels are finally turning?
We can’t afford to lose this momentum. The CSB has become the heartbeat of our county’s healing, and we need to fight to keep it alive—for our families, our children, and our future.
