OUR DEMAND

 

Stop the proposed/reported merger of DM School with Kendriya Vidyalaya and preserve DM School as an independent educational institution with its distinct identity, heritage and character.

WHY WE ARE RAISING OUR VOICE

DM School is not merely a school building or an administrative unit.

It is an institution that has shaped generations of students, teachers, parents and families.

Established in 1964, DM School has a long and distinguished place in the educational history of Odisha so also in  Karnataka,Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. RIE  describes DM School as the first CBSE-affiliated school of Odisha and an integral part of RIE Bhubaneswar.

For more than six decades, the name DM School has represented education, memories, friendships, teachers, achievements and opportunities for thousands of students.

Its identity is part of the educational heritage of Bhubaneswar.

THAT LEGACY DESERVES TO BE PROTECTED.

We fully respect the contribution and importance of Kendriya Vidyalayas and the Kendriya Vidyalaya system.

This campaign is NOT against Kendriya Vidyalaya.

Our concern is the proposed/reported merger of two institutions with their own histories, identities, stakeholders and institutional legacies.

We believe that the solution to administrative or infrastructure requirements should not come at the cost of the independent identity of a historic educational institution.

WE ASK THE AUTHORITIES TO STOP AND LISTEN

Before any irreversible decision concerning DM School is implemented, the authorities must meaningfully consult:

- Current students

- Parents

- Teachers and staff

- Former teachers

- Alumni

- Former students

- Educationists

- RIE Bhubaneswar and other stakeholders

- The wider community

The people who have studied, taught and contributed to DM School deserve to be heard.

WE ALSO DEMAND TRANSPARENCY.

The competent authorities should place in the public domain:

1. The official proposal or decision concerning the merger.

2. The reasons and objectives behind the proposed merger.

3. The proposed future status of DM School.

4. The impact on existing students and teachers.

5. The proposed arrangements for admissions and academics.

6. The future use and status of the school's infrastructure and campus.

7. The outcome of consultations with students, parents, teachers and alumni.

OUR FIVE DEMANDS

1. STOP THE MERGER

Immediately halt implementation of any proposal to merge DM School with Kendriya Vidyalaya until a transparent consultation process has been completed.

2. PRESERVE DM SCHOOL'S IDENTITY

Retain the name, identity, institutional character and independent legacy of DM School, Bhubaneswar.

3. CONSULT THE STAKEHOLDERS

No final decision should be taken without meaningful consultation with students, parents, teachers, alumni and educationists.

4. MAKE THE FACTS PUBLIC

Publish the official proposal, rationale, administrative orders and proposed future arrangements concerning DM School.

5. PROTECT THE FUTURE OF ITS STUDENTS

Ensure that the interests of current and future students remain the primary consideration in any decision concerning the institution.

THIS IS ABOUT MORE THAN A NAME

When a historic school loses its identity, we do not simply change a signboard.

We risk losing a connection to generations of students who proudly call themselves DM School alumni.

We risk losing institutional continuity.

We risk losing a part of Bhubaneswar's educational history.

A school is built with bricks and classrooms.

An institution is built by generations.

DM School has been built by generations.
