Restore Cinderella Castle to Its Original Color Scheme

The Issue

Pandemic Pink Castle is a symbol of The Walt Disney Company's steep decline in all aspects. Sign this petition and encourage Disney to honor its history by restoring Cinderella Castle to its original color scheme.

You've seen the overly saturated, intensely edited pictures of the new, "rose gold," castle in Walt Disney World.

You've also seen your friends' castle photos from their most recent trips to Orlando, and you thought,

"Hm. Must be slightly overcast; the castle looks a bit dull, and at once, underwhelming and busy."

It is a wonder, friend, but your perplexion is valid and shared. The castle is just that ugly -- although perhaps not in promotional photos,

but definitely in person.

It is at once a dull, underwhelming salmon pink

while also a busy mess of "embellishments."

If you hate it as much as I do, please sign this petition.

Consider this:

When Disney first announced the transformation of Cinderella Castle for the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World (and purportedly the 70th anniversary of Cinderella), and at the start of the pandemic,

they promised that the castle would return to its iconic white-grey, and soft blue color scheme after the anniversary celebration was over.

However, now that the 50th celebration is (finally) over, Disney has quietly decided that the Pandemic Pink color scheme will remain.

Imagineers hope that as they remove some of the "embellishments," that there will not be any visible "scarring," on the castle, due to the blistering Florida sun.

Sounds cheap, right? Well, Disney didn't think you'd notice. Let them know you have.

First, this is arguably the largest representation of Disney's lack of care and funding toward Walt Disney World.

In fact, the parks of Walt Disney World are unquestionably the most overlooked of all of Disney's properties. The parks are dirty, over-priced, crowded, and the rides are constantly breaking down due to lack of maintenance.

This is solely due to the fact that WDW is also the most profitable of all of Disney's properties.

The corporate cronies sleep well at night knowing that despite their lack of investment, people will continue to pay for Disney World tickets, subsidizing their questionable acquisitions and hefty investments overseas.

Tired of it? Let them know.

Disney wanted to pack the parks during the pandemic, so they decided to paint the castle - a cheap, unimaginative gimmick.

But apart from how cheap this maneuver is, it's also dismally ironic.

After all, what better way to commemorate something than by making it completely unrecognizable?

As a result, this eyesore has undoubtedly ruined hundreds of thousands of family photos in just 3 years.

Not to mention, the altered first-visit experience is a sad reality for the majority of Disney's visitors: once-in-a-lifetime guests.

Yes, that sweet couple who scrimped, saved, and dreamed of giving their kids the Disney trip that they never had make up the majority of Disney World park-goers.

In all those years, that family wasn't dreaming of a salmon pink and bold blue castle.

The vision they had -- that they saved and waited for -- is gone.

On top of that, the recurring experience is also altered.

Consider that the castle was a soft white and grey for far more than personal preference.

The Imagineers who first worked on the castle opted for the iconic soft palette in order to achieve forced perspective.

The soft blue turrets along with the cloudy white & grey stones,

were meant to softly blend into the sky, making the castle seem larger, and more fairytale-like.

In contrast, the current color-scheme comes without much thought, other than "rose gold was popular 5 years ago. It probably still is."

Finally, Pandemic Pink Castle is dubbed such because it is a painful reminder of what was the least magical time to visit Walt Disney World.

With the new paint job came strict safety measures as well an unfortunate series of cost-cutting and exploitative decisions that have irreparably damaged the guest experience.

I think we'd all like to forget that time, and it would be nice if Disney would stop reminding us of it with their graffitied park icon.

It'd also be nice to get an updated Castle photo, amiright?
