Save Davison Elementary/Middle

The Issue

Detroit Public School board is attempting to horrendously sneak and displays our children by demolishing Davison Elementary/Middle School and relocating the school physical building.

I grew up in the poorest city in America (Detroit) and the third poorest zip code in the city 48212. Although growing up on 6 mile and Davison, Davison Elementary School allowed children to take themself out the hood for 8 hours. We had Micro society where we had teacher lead businesses , police officers, judges, banks, Start ups (I was the first student to create their own company). We would go on interviews, complete applications, work jobs,  paid weekly checks, and were taught to save for the end of the year auction (real world experience). Davison had Academic games where we were and remain the best in the city and state. Also, Davison is a Blue Ribbon school; that provides so many after school clubs to students Robotics, Chess Club, and many other clubs.

I’m so fed up with the lack of empathy that our representatives have for our children. Our children already have to walk pass abandon homes, in the snow and freezing weather. Some children are without parents that watch them on the way to school to obtain a good education. Now the city is closing our school and rebuilding it and moving it across the city. This is a slap in the face! This is only the beginning of the gentrification in the area!

Now if you ever went to Davison or have family that have attended Davison you know how much this school means to our neighborhood. Please support and sign the petition to stop the closure and relocation! Thank you!
