
In October 2023 Golf Digest published an article regarding a big city major announcing plans to seize local golf course. The golf course was a fully functional golf course and one of the most affordable to play. The mayor’s plan is to turn 50 acres of the seized golf course land into a public park.
What does this article have to do with Cottonfields Community and Southern Ridge Golf Course? To further prove there’s all kinds of golf course issues around the world. In this particular article, local government officials such as a major and municipal officials have seized a portion of a golf course.
There’s a possibility the blight land currently surrounding the Cottonfields Community may become a concern to local authorities and government agencies. Anyone who thinks this is not a potential concern should consult with a real estate attorney before drawing to conclusions.
Right now, Cottonfields Community has an opportunity in front of them to build a better future for the community. But in order to build something people must come together and work together. What is your legacy going to say about you? Are you going to make the best decision for yourself and the future of the Cottonfields Community? What are you doing today to help and support the best outcome possible for the community?
Ask yourself these questions and if you don’t have any answers for them, then you obviously aren’t doing anything about it. The current situation Cottonfields Homeowners face is an opportunity to make a difference by participating in their community’s future development. This opportunity should be #1 priority on every Cottonfields Homeowner’s agenda.
The Cottonfields Homeowners we have spoken to say something must be done now. Doing nothing is no longer an option. The current golf course owner Laveen 140, LLC. presents the opportunity to revitalize the golf course, the golf course clubhouse and provide more amenities. The residential development will provide financial support to keep the golf course financially sustainable.
The Cottonfields Community H.O.A. hires a professional, licensed, competent attorney to modify the REMA Agreement with a clause that states if Laveen 140, LLC. doesn’t deliver on their promises regarding the golf course being fully open and operational “BEFORE” any residential development property can be sold then the REMA Agreement revisions are not approved, nullified and void.
I understand the skepticism and concern if the REMA agreement is modified what if the entire golf course project is not completed. Then the REMA agreement modification becomes void and now there’s 50 acres surrounding the community prepared to build residential property. Then what?
Perhaps you can contact Laveen 140, LLC. and the Cottonfields Community H.O.A. to ask them this question. I personally don’t foresee anything like that happening. But certainly a fair question to ask. I am voting YES. It’s time to move forward with the redevelopment of the golf course. It’s a risk I’m willing to take. If Laveen 140, LLC. doesn’t deliver the golf course the REMA Agreement is nullified. Cottonfields Homeowners lose nothing.
What happens if the county decided to seize the land? You think Cottonfields Community Homeowners stand a chance to get the land back? Sitting around doing nothing is going to get you nowhere and if you sit around long enough you’re gonna get yourself in trouble. Doing nothing and allowing the land to deteriorate is not the best option. We as a community must take action now!
