When I was younger my brother was rushed to the emergency room, and I only found out about it after returning from school. This terrifying experience will be a reality for many students if Yondr pouches continue to be enforced in College Park High. The use of Yondr pouches might intend to create a distraction-free environment, but it inadvertently strips students of their liberty and freedom. 

Imagine a situation where there is an emergency, and the office is unreachable or down. Students need to directly contact their parents in such situations. No parent wishes to hear from a school office when they are anxiously waiting for their child’s voice. Communication is vital, not only for the students’ peace of mind but also for the parents', especially in emergencies.

Many students rely on having their phones readily available to coordinate with their familiars , whether it's for rides, meeting up, or quickly resolving emergencies. By utilizing Yondr pouches, we risk delaying crucial communications because the process of having phones returned to students at the end of the school day can be inefficient and slow.

Schools are meant to be safe havens for learning and growth, not places where students feel cut off from their families and support systems. By discontinuing the use of Yondr pouches, we can ensure a safer environment for everyone.
