Our campaign to stop the Albert Eden Local Board’s senseless $30m rate payer funded carve up of Chamberlain Park heads to the High Court next month - a two-day Judicial Review hearing is set down for the 13th and 14th of November. To date we have funded this campaign through generous public donations as well as support from club members. Thank you so much to those who have donated either directly or through our Givealittle campaign. While our legal team have been generous with their time, we’re unfortunately still short of our funding target. So we’re appealing to you to search for more donors amongst your various contacts. Maybe you know a philanthropist who is also a keen golfer?! If so, please send this message to them. Meanwhile Auckland artist Stanley Palmer has kindly donated a print “Tower” which we will be auctioning off. Please contact Louise Kane at louise.kane27@gmail.com if you are interested. You can make your donation either through the givealittle page: https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/savechamberlainpark Or directly into our Save Chamberlain Park Inc bank account: ANZ, number 01-0270-0189923-50 To reiterate: Our Judicial Review challenges the legal process under which the decision making power over a regional asset like Chamberlain Park was able to be given to a Local Board. We are also challenging the decision making and consultation process that the Local Board engaged in when it went about making its decisions to create and then adopt its Masterplan. Chamberlain Park is one of the highest utilised golf courses in Auckland with well over 50,000 rounds played each year. People from all over Auckland play golf at Chamberlain Park. It is commonly known as the golf course of the “working class”. It is also one of only two true public access golf courses in the Auckland region! We also believe it is an important tree/ bird/wildlife ecosystem that should not be replaced with hard surfaces such as artificial turf, aquatic centres and car parks. Please help us preserve this precious asset for all Aucklanders. wwwsavecpark.org
