Save Castlelynch Public Amenity and Access

Save Castlelynch Public Amenity and Access

The Issue

Please sign here to save public access to the lake shore at Castlelynch to Inniscarra Lake, Co. Cork Ireland.

Following recent unauthorised works, public access has been removed to the public roadway and car park leading to the lakeshore.

The works have also caused a serious environmental impact to the foreshore with the unauthorised removal of the existing natural habitats and woodland. This work has reduced the shoreline making the shoreline in accessible at times of high water.

The impact to the wildlife previously resident at the wooded shoreline area is very extensive and untold damage has already been caused.

Castlelynch is the only public access point on the south shore of Inniscarra Lake and has been utilised by locals, the general public, and the angling community for over 30+ years.

A car park was funded by the state, to provide parking facilities at the amenity in recent years and is now inaccessible due to the erection of a locked gate on the public access road, restricting access to the public (walkers, swimmers and kayaking) and anglers alike.

Please sign here to help us maintain and reinstate this amenity for the benefit of the public, local community and anglers alike.
