Cardonald library closed, with no prior warning, in September 2023 with the reason given being RAAC in the roof. The library remains closed to this day with very little communication in that time from Glasgow Life or Glasgow City Council. Our library provision was vital to a vast & diverse community with a wide array of services that have never been replaced & suitable, accessible & local alternatives have not been facilitated. 

In November 2024 'Gies back our books' was launched to provide a visible, vocal & positive platform for the community to demand answers & a solution for moving forward. With two successful & busy Sunday morning meets at the library, press coverage & fantastic engagement from the local primary schools we are building momentum.

We need our books, bookbug sessions, lego clubs, Internet access, warmth, meeting & workspace back. In this current climate we miss & need our library more than ever.

Glasgow City Council set their budget on the 20th February so now is the time to raise our collective voice to demand answers. We need our library building repaired & open. In the interim we need alternative, local & accessible provision now.
